Product Name: Mosquiron
Description: A Novel Product for the Control of Mosquito Larvae
Composition: Novaluron ............... 100 g/L
  Inert Ingredients .... 900 g/L

MOSQUIRON

  • An insect growth regulator (IGR) belonging to the latest generation of benzoylphenyl urea insecticides.
  • A novel molecule (novaluron), which interferes with normal molting by inhibiting chitin synthesis.
  • Prevents the succesful completion of the molting process, which resulst in the death of the larvae before it passes to the next instar. It differes from other IGR products, juvenile hormones mimics, which allow larvae to complete their development and act only by preventing adult emergence.
  • In two years of extensive biological assays in the laboratory and in the field, MOSQUIRON has been proven to be highly effective against mosquito larvae at very low application rates, for prolonged periods.
  • Low mammalian toxicity:

Oral LD 50>5,000 mg/kg. Dermal LD 50>2,000 mg/kg (rats). Non-toxic to fish, algae, earth worms and birds. Due to its high selectivity against target pests, it can be used in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and is suitable for use against mosquito larvae in water bodies where biological control exists.

  • No recorded resistance – it is effective against organophosphate and pyrethoid resistant insect species. It is also best alternative to monolayer oils (MLO).

Mosquito Larvae Control

Application at Breeding Sites
Sewage Ponds, rain water ponds, irrigation reservoirs, water canals and other breeding habitats.
It may be applied for prevention or to control existing larvae. Mortality occurs within 2-4 days.

Application Interval
Apply Mosquiron to breeding sites once every 2-4 weeks, depending on the breeding potential and characteristics of water body (rate of water influx causing dillution of product, amount of vegetation and uneveness of shoreline) - all of which can effect control.

Application Rate:
0.5 - 2.0 ml Mosquiron per cubic meter (1,000 L) water depending on larval density, water influx and vegetation density.

When water is 20 cm deep:
Dilute 1-2 tbsp of mosquiron into 5L of water to cover an area of 100 square meters.

When water is 50 cm deep:
Dilute 2-4 tbsp of mosquiron into 5L of water to cover an area of 100 square meters.
